The sheath is an exact replacement for the sheath that comes with the 499 AFSK and NOT the 499 MOD although it would fit it as well as the Ontario TAK-1.

5 Pilots Survival Knife Replacement Sheath w/ sharpening stone
Posted by John L. on May 22nd 2019
This sheath was a replacement for my 1994 Ontario Knife, that had seen a little too much foul weather and was beyond repair. The knife was rebuilt with a new leather stacked handle, cleaned and resharpened. Quality of the sheath is top of the line and on par with my other Ontario Pilot knife which I have had since 1989. Very good product! will last the years, with proper care. I am very glad it was still available.

3 Replacement Sheath

Sheath is small for OKC blade by 1/2 inch in holster. Handle tab hardware is placed short of the width of the handle and loop does not close properly. When inserting blade into sheath, improperly place hardware scratches the oxide coating of the OKC blade. Nice to find a replacement sheath, disappointed its not to standard.

4 Good replacement sheath

My 1968 air force survival knife wasn’t getting used because the sheath was falling apart. The brass studs holding it together were heavily corroded. This new sheath is a tight fit but should soften up after a coat of neetsfoot oul. The studs are black painted nickel and hopefully last a long time. I’m ok with the plastic reinforcement at the end of the sheath which my old sheath did not have. My old knife may not be Ontario (marked Camillus 1968) and therefore the strap is tight to fit around the handle, but it works.
